Beautiful physical setting and building in a wholesome natural environment, but also with emphasis on today's changing educational needs. One of my children recently graduated from this school and received a very generous academic scholarship from a top Canadian university. At the end of his senior year he had 27 college credits from his high school coursework and AP testing results which he was able to transfer to the Univ., again saving money & time and allowing him to perform well in advanced coursework in his chosen field. His younger sibling attended Keene Central School since kindergarten and has loved the athletic program and friendships made. The school provides a very warm, secure and nourishing environment where everyone knows and generally accepts each other; differences are at the very least allowed and more often celebrated. The older kids look after the younger ones and children make friends across grade levels. Teachers care and the community is involved to the point where i-net access is provided to all homes in town with kids in the school. KCS has the benefits of a small private school without the expense and with more oversight. Check out the academic offerings and enrichment programs; they will amaze you. The school has a beautiful garden, greenhouse, pond and woods. No processed foods in the cafeteria.... The only drawback is that there is only one class per grade, so much depends upon the individual teacher, other students and the chemistry of its makeup. Visit the campus, ask staff and administration questions about your grade level, and you should get straight answers. Talk to students & families too--this town will welcome your interest as the school is the center of the resident community.
